In newspapers, "above the fold" still counts

The other day, the San Jose Mercury had the following image across the whole front page of the sports section, with the giant headline "Golden girl":

The green line in the picture is where the fold appeared, so all you saw when you first pulled the sports section was the image above the green line. Some page layout editor wasn't thinking...

The midnight hour, extended and jumped on

Some people think of the Grateful Dead's longer songs as spacey noodling or mindless wandering. I just heard this quite long version of In the Midnight Hour that pretty much blows that idea away. It's a hard rocking, lusty, funny, smashing rave-up from the Fillmore Auditorium, 11/19/66. Enjoy.
