5 megapixels is enough

I might buy another digital camera in the next year. I like the form factor of my current one, but I also find that I don't take it with me as often as I should. There is now a wide range of resolutions for digital cameras, which leads to the question: how much resolution do I need? Fortunately, David Pogue answers.. I just wish he had tossed in a 3 megapixel photo as well.

Paper

It's nice to see that I'm not the only one pining for simplicity over speed. Read Bruce Schneier's excellent essay on the problems of electronic voting. Don't let the TV stations and newspapers cow us into the need for quick ballot counting; paper works just fine, and is fully auditable.

Post-election

Having been around a bunch of non-US people last week at the IETF meeting in San Diego, I noticed that outsiders view our political process as theater more than we do. Today's Foxtrot pretty much nails the worst aspect of US elections.
